The “Zayn left One Direction to join ISIS” jokes show that Westerners truly don’t care about the struggles, the pain, and the literal life-and-death scenarios that play out every day in the grand scheme of Middle Eastern politics. ISIS isn’t funny, nothing about it is funny.
